Did you know, Leicester had its own Statue of Liberty? After a brief visit to New York in 1919, the Directors of the Lennards 'Liberty' Shoe Factory commissioned Stonemason Joseph Morcom to install Leicesters very own Lady of Liberty to stand atop their proud factory. Sadly the building was demolished in 2003, however our lady can still be seen lighting the way by the Soar river bridges.
