DESCRIPTION:
The build of our Corduroy caps are representative of the typical Jockey hat Francis Smith would be proud of - but with the typical Saint Saviours twist, offering our 'Jersey' design Flock appliqué on the face, with a metal clasp buckle to the rear.
But who was Francis Smith?
Top Hat Terrace was was built in 1864 for Francis ‘Tanky’ Smith, a former Detective Inspector in the Leicester Borough Police who had a reputation as a master of disguise. The sixteen head sculptures above the first floor windows represent some of this mans disguises, including two jockeys and the top-hatted figure that gave the terrace its popular name.
